C17200 Beryllium Copper Tempers – What’s the Difference?
C172 Beryllium Copper is used in a variety of industries. From aircraft bushings to oil field drill tooling applications, this alloy is utilized for its strength, corrosion resistance, and hardness. Depending on how the beryllium copper is tempered can change its physical properties. Specific tempers of C172 Beryllium Copper are needed for specific applications. For this reason, there are a number of different tempers of C17200 Beryllium Copper available.
The most popular tempers of beryllium copper are as follows:
- TD04 or H temper
- TF00 or AT temper
- TH04 or HT temper
The use and duration of age hardening is the process that differentiates each of these tempers. In Aerospace use, each of these tempers are associated with a different AMS number. There are even company specific specifications that are associated with one temper and another. This can get a little confusing when trying to determine what temper of C17200 your job requires. For this reason we created a comparison chart that outlines the various tempers, their physical properties, and specifications associated with each one.
