P/M Process

Advantages of P/M Parts
The P/M process is an economical, environmentally clean, high production method for making parts exactly to or close to final dimensions. With little or no machining operations required. Due to their porosity, they may be impregnated with oil or plastic.
Minimal Waste
Proper design of components for manufacture via the P/M process can minimize or elimate the need for secondary maching. With Powdered Metallurgy we are able to maintain close dimensional tolerances and achieve "net" shaping. The reduction in processes and scrap loss is the largest cost saving advantages of powdered metal parts. The P/M process eliminates or minimizes scrap losses by typically using more than 97% of the starting raw material in the finished part
Dimensionally Accurate
Powdered metal production process maintains close dimensional tolerance over extended runs.
Material Versatility
A great number of alloys are available through the P/M manufacturing process that are not through other traditional manufacturing processes.
Volume Adaptable
The powdered metal process is well suited for economical, high volume production. However, National Bronze Mfg. prides itself on being particularly volume flexible. One of our specialties is low to medium volume production of P/M parts (1K-100K pcs).
